long time no post.

Summer's here and that usually means partying, beaches (if you live anywhere near the beach), fun and music. So...what songs do you like to listen to in the summertime? What song really reminds you of the summertime? Obviously pretty much anything by the Beach Boys or Yellowcard qualifies, but besides that what reminds you the most of summer?

Music:Queen - Now I'm Here
I've always liked making mix tapes/mix CDs. Just recently I made one for my girlfriend and although I haven't actually given it to her yet (since we live a bit far apart) I'm sure she'll love it. Anyway, this topic is really just a question: what would your perfect mixtape be? Would it be a heavy hip-hop mix for driving around in the car or something really sentimental that you can listen to in the stillness of these winter/summer nights? What songs would you love to see in this mix? Would you want anything "special" in the CD, such as personalized album art or sound effects? What would be the overall theme and mood of the CD?

And so I listen to music, or play music, or whatever. It's my therapy. It's kind of odd though, that we hear music so much on TV, on the radio, and everywhere else, but don't always listen to it. I see music as a thing to be treasured, not taken for granted. Anyone else feel this way?

Kind of useless post I guess.

About You:

1. How has music affected your life?

I've loved music since the first breath I took. When I was little, I used to wake up every morning and sing until my mom came to get me. It relaxes me, exites me, completes me.

2. How are you involved in the music scene? (In other words, are you a musician, songwriter, fan, etc.)

I write songs when the mood strikes me, and am a musician of sorts.

3. Do you play any instruments? If so, what do you play?

I play the piano, mostly just functional chords. I used to play the flute, and I'd love to learn how to play the guitar.

4. Are you in a band? If so, what kind of music do you play? (you can also provide a link if you want...we'd love to hear more great music!)

I'm not in a band. I'm part of two music teams at different churches, but not my own band.

5. What was the best concert you've ever been to? (If you've never been to a concert, that's OK.)

A concert of Falling Up and Seventh Day Slumber. I've been to quite a few concerts, but that was by far the best.

Likes and Dislikes:

1. What are your five favorite bands?

hm...that's got to be Death Cab for Cutie, Five Iron Frenzy, Ronnie Day, Kelly Clarkson (if that counts as a "band"), and All American Rejects. I know, not very original lol.

2. What are your three least favorite bands?

Fall Out Boy, Korn, and Disturbed

3. What is your favorite song? How about your favorite album?

My favorite song is Mad World, by Gary Jules. My favorite album is Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie.

4. What do you like about the music industry today? What do you dislike?

I like the music industry because it makes a lot of good music readily available to the public. I dislike it because it's so commercialized, and it seems like most bands who go mainstream begin to sound like everyone else. Not all, but most.

5. What group of music lovers do you most closely identify with?

hm...the songwriters, and those who love acoustic soulful music.

Hi...this is my community. I guess I'll fill out my own sign up sheet, even though it's a bit self-indulgent. :P

About You:

1. How has music affected your life?

It's really been there for me when I needed it. I grew up taking piano lessons, but guitar is what really got me into music. I saw concerts that have honestly changed the way I think about life in general.

2. How are you involved in the music scene? (In other words, are you a musician, songwriter, fan, etc.)

Musician, songwriter, producer, and fan. Not really good at any, but it helps!

3. Do you play any instruments? If so, what do you play?

I play guitar, piano, bass guitar and harmonica. I also like to sing, but guitar is my main instrument.

4. Are you in a band? If so, what kind of music do you play? (you can also provide a link if you want...we'd love to hear more great music!)

I'm working on starting a band. We have two guitarists/singers/songwriters and that's about it. We need a bassist and drummer to get the creative juices flowing!

5. What was the best concert you've ever been to? (If you've never been to a concert, that's OK.)

Probably Green Day.

Likes and Dislikes:

1. What are your five favorite bands?

Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. In that order sort of.

2. What are your three least favorite bands?

Jessica Simpson, 50 Cent, and Crazy Frog.

3. What is your favorite song? How about your favorite album?

Song: Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
Album: Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

4. What do you like about the music industry today? What do you dislike?

Like: Thanks to the internet, it's a lot easier for unsigned/indie bands to get recognized
Dislike: CDs are WAY too expensive (which is why everyone uses Limewire now

5. What group of music lovers do you most closely identify with?

Probably hippie...
